I use Dell latitude D630, but I think it is completely failed. Actually it was working perfectly and it doesn’t have any bag for safety, so yesterday it dropped from my hands while I was picking it from my cupboard. Now it doesn’t start and at boot time it gives me some error message like “Hard disk controller failure”. I restarted my computer several times but nothing changed. What could be the problem? Moreover, what I have to do in the situation of complete system failure, please advice.
The message shows that the problem might be in your hard drive. Keep in mind the following instructions.
- Go to BIOS and check your hard drive there.
- If you find the hard drive there, it means that your hard drive is intact physically.
- If it is not shown there, it means that the problem is physically.
- In case of physical damage, don’t try to dismantle the hard drive, but stop using it and contact with recovery professionals like Disk Doctors.
- Moreover, try another hard drive (with operating system installed) on your system to check whether it boots or not.
- If it boots, it means that your system works perfectly rather than hard drive.
- After you verified that the problem is logical, just attach your hard drive with another computer being a slave drive.
- Get your necessary files from your hard drive and after that install a new operating system to your drive and install reliable anti-virus software.
